Bluestone Bistro

I just realized that Bluestone Bistro is now closed:(

I was so disappointed when I walked to their doors only to see a sign that said they were closed. I've only been there once for brunch and I wanted to return to try their french toast. Now it's too late:(

There aren't many brunch places uptown so it was sad to see that it was no longer in business. Anyways here is my post on my first and last dining experience at Bluestone.

Hana-Bi Sushi

Cheap, tasty and filling.

Hana-Bi Sushi definitely meets those requirements.

Look at this. Bento box for $8 tax in. O-M-G!!! Is that cheap or what?!!

Loire

It's not French cuisine seemed more like Asian food to me.

When you enter Loire all you see is white white white. Pretty clean looking place.

For our starter we had the rainbow trout tartare with yuzu dressing, cilantro sour cream, teriyaki glaze scallion and cucumber salad. This was incredibly refreshing and tasted sooo good. Too bad there was not enough of this scrumptious dish cause I wanted more.

Lucien

The dishes at Lucien were a work of art but the portions are so tiny:(

Then again guess cause it's suppose to be more of a fancier restaurant so when it's fine dining means the prices are higher and the portions are smaller.

Puck 'N Wings

Wings, wings, WIIIIIIINNNNNNNGS!!!

Who doesn't like chicken wings?!!

My 2 besties were craving for wings and one of them recommended Puck 'N Wings.

We went on a Monday night so we can take full advantage of their wing night special. Half off baby yayyy:)

Thai Angels

Sorry everyone. I've been slacking on my blog but now I'm back:)

Even though I haven't been blogging I've still been eating so I've got a lot to catch up on so most of the posts will be brief but to the point. It will always be my honest opinions no matter how good or bad it may be so here it goes.

Me and S&S wanted to try somewhere new uptown so we decided to give Thai Angels a try.

The place was small and very empty. There were only 2 other tables yet somehow we still ended up waiting for over an hour for our food. Not very pleased especially when we were all starving.

First off the ginger duck. It was delicious but the portion was too small and definitely not enough meat.

Louis XIV

Sweet sweet Louis.

After eating at Ruelo, we walked around Time Square and stumbled upon a lil cake shop called Louis XIV. With the cake display still embedded in my head, I finally returned and bought a couple of desserts to try out.

Sunset Grill

We only ordered 2 dishes and this is what we got. OMG un-freakin-believable!!!

We were starving as usual so Sand recommended we go try out Sunset Grill. He's been there a few times and he loves the omelette there so of course we had to order that.

Thai One On

Yes another Thai place again.

Been eating a lot of Thai food and yet still not sick of it. This time I went to Thai One On. I've been to this restaurant twice so far so this post will be a combination of both visits.

My first trip was with Sue and Sand.

First off is the basil chicken with veggies. This was delish and very flavorful.

Pi Tom's

Since it was a beautiful sunny day we decided to sit in the patio at Pi-Tom's.

For starters we had the skewered chicken satay. The flavor was there but the chicken could've been more juicy and moist.

Thai Fay

Thai Fay is suppose to serve up some authentic Thai cuisine. The food was just mediocre to me.

Sizzling satay beef. I don't think you can go wrong with any sizzling dish. This was the best dish out of all 3. It had flavor and definitely did not lack in seasoning.

Cafe En Passant

Surprisingly, it was pretty good for a French restaurant in Richmond Hill. The last French restaurant I went to was Scaramouche and it was spectacular.

Cafe En Passant is definitely not comparable to Scaramouche nevertheless, it was still tasty.

It's a small restaurant but had a nice romantic feel to it. Perfect for a date or in this case, dinner with a couple of good friends.

The place was empty when we arrived. I like having the whole place to ourselves so we can be as loud as we want. Not like that ever stopped me before hehe.

First off here is the crepe St. Jacques with bay scallops, baby shrimp covered in a creamy rose wine sauce. I absolutely loved this dish. It was scrumptious. They definitely did not skimp out on the seafood. Every bite was filled with shrimps and scallops.

Glow

I went to Glow to celebrate a friend's birthday. The place looks so pretty inside.

We opted for the patio since it was gorgeous that day and look at the sofas they were just screaming for me to sit on them. It was so comfy and I love my comfy seats.

Perfect Dim Sum

Think this is the cheapest dim sum I have ever had.

My friend took me to Perfect one day claiming the food was good and cheap. Cheap and good food I was sold.

When we arrived the place was jammed packed. I hate lining up so we decided to leave. When we returned a half hour later there was no line up yayyy.

I love my siu mai so we had 2 orders of this. Mmmmmm yummy in my tummy.

ABC Bakery

Another great cheap eat.

ABC Bakery serves up some simple yummy Asian fare at reasonably cheap prices. The portions are humongous and taste wise deeeelicious. The meal we had here can probably feed a family of 4 but us being the pigs we were we gobbled everything up^_^

Here was the satay beef rice noodles. Classic dish you just can never go wrong ordering. Always hits the spot.

Brunch @ School...EPIC FAIL!!!

My last trip at School was mediocre. Not so good but not so bad either.

This time I returned for brunch and OMG what an EPIC FAIL!!!

Thank god Bonnie was there first. If it wasn't for her we wouldn't have gotten a table. But when I arrived I noticed a lot of empty tables. WTH!!! Why the holdup then? Guess they are the type of resto where they make people wait just so that it appears to be busy. Already I wasn't too pleased.

I had my eye on the macadamia banana pancakes but was told that they didn't have any bananas so any dishes with the fruit would not be available. Once again not thrilled here. This is the 2nd time that I came and couldn't get the dish I wanted due to lack of ingredients.

WARNING: The pictures may appear mouthwatering but believe me did not taste as great as it looked.

We were waiting for quite some time for our meal so our waitress gave us complimentary muffins on the house. That made me feel a bit happier since I was starving.

$6.25 for 2 Sandwiches...What a Deal!!!

Here is a quick post.

A friend told me about a shawarma place in Scarborough so one day we decided to head there for lunch.

Family Shawarma is a small resto which seats about 16 people or so. When we arrived there was a long lineup.

I was drooling over the meat here. Just look at it. It was so juicy looking. Om nom nom.

Vi Vetha

One Sunday morning my friend Jane took me to one of her fave brunch spots.

Vi Vetha was definitely a hidden gem. I never heard of this place before but by the end of the meal it was definitely on my list of faves as well.

It's a small little restaurant along Yonge just a block North of Lawrence.

I had my eye on the french toast and egg benny and a few other stuff. I just couldn't decide. I wanted it all. Finally we settled on two dishes.

Here was the potato pancake platter with smoked salmon, 2 eggs garnished with apple, sour cream and capers. It was yummy.

Insomnia Tweetup

Finally organized my very first tweetup yayy^_^

I heard several good reviews about Insomnia so I decided to host my first tweetup there.

Since there were some people I knew as well as some new faces thought it would be fun to create a seating chart. Nobody minded about the seating except for one particular person. (You know who you are missy:P) But it's ok since she was just kidding, hopefully.

$15.99 for Afternoon Tea...Awesome^_^

Last time I came to Ruelo was for desserts and that's when I discovered the strawberry yuzu. Mmmmm. My very first trip was for the macarons. Every trip so far has been a great experience. This time I returned for their afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea is available everyday from 12pm - 6pm. No reservations required. However, it is a tiny space so I would recommend calling ahead to see if there is any seating available. Think there are around 6 tables plus seating by the counter.

Me and Sue dropped by on a Saturday afternoon round 3pm or so. The place was empty when we arrived however, after we were seated then people started bustling in. Thank god we came earlier otherwise we wouldn't have had a table.

Easy Pot Roast

Felt like doing a sleepover at my friend's place so we decided to make pot roast for dinner.

Ding Tai Fong

I am soooo behind on my blogging so will try to remember as much as I can about my experience here.

I went to Ding Tai Fong sometime in mid August. Sand recommended the place to me so we decided to go there on a Saturday morning.

Dang the place was packed when we arrived. Then again all dim sum places are always packed on a Saturday morning. This was no regular Chinese dim sum place. It was a Shanghai dim sum restaurant.

Chili Crab

"Chili crab is a seafood dish originating from Singapore. The crabs are lightly fried or streamed first with ginger, before being stir-fried in a chili sauce made mostly with chili paste, ketchup, and chicken eggs. The shells are usually partially cracked before cooking for ease of eating later". Drooling yet?

Now when you read that how can you resist.

June Harlowe

Pretty sketchy area but the food was good.

I bought a groupon for June Harlowe. I've never been in the Junction area before but because of the voucher thought I would venture into the unknown for some food. Besides it was the brunch that caught my attention and I just can't say no to brunch.

It's a cozy lil place however, it did not have a/c. Not good when it was scorching hot out. Oh well whatcha gonna do.

Fire Fly

Since I don't really go to First Markham, both Sue and Sand recommended Fire Fly. It was a good choice.

When we arrived it was a full house. The pix that I took was when they were pretty much closing. Let's just say we had a really good time that we almost didn't want to leave:)

We each got the set menu which came with a choice of soup or salad, bread, entree and drink.

For our drink, we all ordered the HK coffee tea. Unlike the one at Phoenix which is already all sugared up, this one here you had to add the sweetener yourself.

Stinky Tofu is Really STINKY!!!!

Stinky tofu is not called stinky for no reason.

I was walking around First Markham until Sue sniffed the air and told me she smelled stinky tofu. I have never ate it before so she insisted that I give it a try. We got Sand to also try it too even though he kept crying NOOOOOOOO!!! But hey since he never tried it thought we should try it together.

Rooftop Patio @ Joey Don Mills

My last trip to Joey Don Mills was for lunch. I fell in love with their molten lava chocolate souffle. Just the thought of it now is making me drool. This time around I found another new love.

My colleagues wanted to go out for lunch so I suggested Joey. Since it was such a gorgeous day we opted for the rooftop patio.

I got the ahi tuna club with grilled rare tuna loin with smoked bacon, red pepper relish, arugula and panko onion rings with a side of sweet potato fries. It was absolutely de-li-cious.

Tower of Babel...What a Monstrosity!!!

OH-MI-GOD what was I thinking???

2 weeks ago was my first trip to Burger Priest. I only tried the Priest which was off the regular menu. I really enjoyed it.

This time I wanted to try something off the "secret" menu but the feeling wasn't the same.

@chopstickhero challenged me to eat the Vatican sooooo
CHALLENGE...wait for it....ACCEPTED!!!

Uptown All Day Dim Sum

Me and my cousin were craving for some dim sum. Problem was that it was after 3pm. Most dim sum places end their dim sum around that time. I didn't know of any all day dim sum places uptown so I asked a friend who lived in the area if he could recommend any restaurants. He suggested Richmond Court at Times Square so off we went.

Epicure

Since so many restaurants had lineups we decided to give Epicure a try.

The place was empty when we arrived. Think it was around 8 or 9pm. Don't know if that's a good thing or not on a Saturday night but it did have a/c and that's the only thing that mattered to me at that time.

To start off we ordered the Paris pizza which came with smoked chicken, spinach, bacon, roasted peppers, portabello mushrooms, and mozzarella and brie cheese. It was delicious. Truthfully, we were hoping to eat at Pizzeria Libretto but since there was a 2 hour lineup forget that. Also there was no a/c in there well, at least I didn't feel it by the doorway. This pizza is not comparable to Libretto but it was pretty good.

Dlish Cupcakes

Last time I went to Dlish, there was only ONE cupcake left.

I still remember it clearly as if it just happened yesterday. Yes I'm pretty serious when it comes to my cupcakes, it's serious stuff (j/k or am I?).

It was 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, an hour before they closed, luckily me and my friend stepped in a few seconds earlier before the next people because there was only one cupcake left on the shelf. We bought it and sat by the window to eat. It was kinda mean watching people walk in only to be disappointed yet seeing us eat our cupcake hehe.

What a BEAST!!!

Ever seen maple bacon doughnuts like these ones??? So so sooooooo good but so bad for you.

Me, Sue and K went for brunch at Beast. I was so excited since this was on my list to try. One look at the brunch menu online I knew I had to go here one day.

At the bottom of the menu there's a disclaimer saying "beast restaurant uses local and sustainable ingredients whenever possible, from farms in Ontario, unless otherwise noted, everything is made in house". How great is that. Have to appreciate the restaurants that make their own products or at least support local farmers.

The artwork on the wall is quite eccentric which kinda goes with the theme of the restaurant. The food is definitely rich or BEASTLY yet sensual in its presentation and taste. Hmm dunno if that makes sense but you will soon see what I mean.

Ice 'n Cake

After filling our bellys with some delicious Thai food from Linda, we stopped by this new dessert place called Ice 'n Cake.

It was bustling with people when we arrived so we waited for it to die down before heading to the counter.

I love the fun colorful interior. Makes it appear playful and inviting.

Since we were kinda full I decided to pass on the cake and grab the gelato instead.

I got passion fruit and mango gelato. It was yummy.

It was a great way to end our day with 2 scoops of refreshing fruit flavored gelato. Hopefully next time I can try the cakes or maybe the crepe or even waffle... guess we will see;)

TOTAL BILL $3...EAT HERE NEXT!!!
