OMG there's another Sukho Thai??!!!<br />
<br />
Yayyy and finally cause the first location is soooooo tiny. Think it seats about max 20 people. The sister location, <a href="http://eatherenext.blogspot.ca/2011/03/khao-san-road.html" target="_blank">Khao San Road</a> isn't much bigger either but one thing they all have in common is that the food is absolutely DELICIOUS, which is the most important thing of all.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
I love the food at both the old location of Sukho Thai and the sister location, Khao San Road.<br />
<br />
When
I got an invite to a private opening for their new location I got super
excited since I love love love their food. But what got me even more excited was
that I can eat anything off the menu for FREEEEEEEEEEEEE=) It was
music to my ears. We all know how much I love to eat so hearing the words 'food' and 'free' in the SAME sentence is a dream come true to me. Especially when it's yummy food.<br />
<br />
The new location for Sukho Thai is perfect. It's located in the financial district so not too far of a walk from the station and parking wise well I didn't have any problems today finding parking so it was good for me. The restaurant was spacious and the decor is rustic with the brick wall yet sleek and modern looking with the black decor.<br />
<br />
First off gotta order have my Thai ice tea.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYsKoAjlZeHIubhFUqHPz2NQ-Am7hDygurGycm846quoTpjPL1SaCxNxayK4SzrlxzeLd9F6qRxrLCMD1S0yIwUMwwr0ZAs8iMmRd49Fja5TXXgJmz1og1rupS3w1tE6y5X-1QdtsJ_VY/s1600/IMG_7532.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYsKoAjlZeHIubhFUqHPz2NQ-Am7hDygurGycm846quoTpjPL1SaCxNxayK4SzrlxzeLd9F6qRxrLCMD1S0yIwUMwwr0ZAs8iMmRd49Fja5TXXgJmz1og1rupS3w1tE6y5X-1QdtsJ_VY/s400/IMG_7532.JPG" width="315" /></a></div>
<br />
We started off with appetizers.<br />
<br />
At the top of the page are shrimp chips with tamarind sauce. Crunchy and sweet. Perfect snack to munch on while waiting for your food. They were right. It was addicting. Kept crunching away like there was no tomorrow. All I need is my TV and I can eat these chips all day long. <br />
<br />
Next were the spring rolls served with their homemade sweet and sour garlic sauce. Crispy exterior with veggies and noodles on the inside. I'm not really a big fan of spring rolls cause most of them are vegetarian but this surprisingly was delightful. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix7c3vHMd_nTEVa0U948SlXUS82BguFyDpmqxxH7eSGh47Wvp_WF1WJ5FQZzdpf2VRCgma-iv865tsn-2dofoM32o4no95v6XPdewo_mXSNF1ufkUYFdGuTeZUiQLTIRjTsiwZEhYybvU/s1600/IMG_7547.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix7c3vHMd_nTEVa0U948SlXUS82BguFyDpmqxxH7eSGh47Wvp_WF1WJ5FQZzdpf2VRCgma-iv865tsn-2dofoM32o4no95v6XPdewo_mXSNF1ufkUYFdGuTeZUiQLTIRjTsiwZEhYybvU/s400/IMG_7547.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Next is the tom yum kung. I would have to say one of the best soup I have ever tasted. Herby and savory with a nice lil kick that just kinda sneaks up on you. I ordered a small since I figured I should save my stomach for all the other food. Dang should've ordered a large instead. Next time no small bowl for me.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Hey look there's another shrimp hiding under all that garnish.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Here is the gaeng phed (have no clue how you pronounce this always have to point at the menu). I found this to be a bit too sweet and creamy for me. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghulMlxn5hNyoQKnbP43_QZaV8Uk3oSjdAcKsUxLM14nDkOCvVMdMZevMCbC8owv9iXWr64qxw9kvr6Z0sHY2edrfqHR7KGnAQPeVwWHWhx-TqVECDdQh3peubPCb6WxHKo_PcCJcw4Fo/s1600/IMG_7536.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghulMlxn5hNyoQKnbP43_QZaV8Uk3oSjdAcKsUxLM14nDkOCvVMdMZevMCbC8owv9iXWr64qxw9kvr6Z0sHY2edrfqHR7KGnAQPeVwWHWhx-TqVECDdQh3peubPCb6WxHKo_PcCJcw4Fo/s400/IMG_7536.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The beef was cooked well and the squash was delicious.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg93TTTsVAPDZR3sBlzMb0IWSOIwdTLnAudmo44OKJb9hsdKJtJKgAGS74ALjl_Xf3VBQzOBfZMOvjBldt0AmLEImE2ezbOGLaFldtYLRVhcQnCdPLO7gd6lHo4BWTUiLxzyNa-7M3t7Os/s1600/IMG_7534.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg93TTTsVAPDZR3sBlzMb0IWSOIwdTLnAudmo44OKJb9hsdKJtJKgAGS74ALjl_Xf3VBQzOBfZMOvjBldt0AmLEImE2ezbOGLaFldtYLRVhcQnCdPLO7gd6lHo4BWTUiLxzyNa-7M3t7Os/s400/IMG_7534.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I ordered the SukhoThai pad thai with chicken. It was pleasant but again a bit on the sweet side. The portion was pretty generous.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZa47-28kPD4efHmN-2TKvOqCzeHbyCt7I58bZpPYXCLbdDmcx_ERu5HPQhfTvPd-9b6RVEN1e5uUpDplUdkepP94qg6JbEIf2JIl2F71N04-C_o25QTMw7V3i90b5KiYIjh_RUUhmTGc/s1600/IMG_7525.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZa47-28kPD4efHmN-2TKvOqCzeHbyCt7I58bZpPYXCLbdDmcx_ERu5HPQhfTvPd-9b6RVEN1e5uUpDplUdkepP94qg6JbEIf2JIl2F71N04-C_o25QTMw7V3i90b5KiYIjh_RUUhmTGc/s400/IMG_7525.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Last is the gaeng panang (again do not know how to pronounce it). This was also a tad too sweet but I still enjoyed it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNrEQwrwHNDXzIoMUFDKWXGAZ_T2zjX5gt9NJUQ-A0marRoaThngIM7dzuacnGAXalcQZDGYmqju2_herY-xCUJGBc9tkq63FEi8RZkJM2ZwzcGXXKcuPgAdiW3q6qN9URWwMeM92YQtc/s1600/IMG_7521.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNrEQwrwHNDXzIoMUFDKWXGAZ_T2zjX5gt9NJUQ-A0marRoaThngIM7dzuacnGAXalcQZDGYmqju2_herY-xCUJGBc9tkq63FEi8RZkJM2ZwzcGXXKcuPgAdiW3q6qN9URWwMeM92YQtc/s400/IMG_7521.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Although a few dishes were a bit sweet but with a few minor tweaks I can see this place being another hit just like their predecessors. Even though it is 2 times bigger than the other restaurants I definitely see a long lineup still. Tomorrow will be their grand opening so go there as early as you can or you might end up waiting for at least an hour or maybe even more.<br />

This was incredibly refreshing and tasted sooo good. I was tricked. I ordered this dish thinking there was duck confit but instead got a plate that tasted something like those Asian Peking duck dish with the wrap. The major difference was that here this dish costed me $28 when I can get a whole duck at the Asian restaurant for the same price. Not happy at all. I was expecting duck meat floating in a pool of fat with crispy skin just like the one I had at <a href="http://eatherenext.blogspot.com/2011/04/forte-bistro.html">Forte Bistro</a>. Instead this is what I got. It tasted ok but not what I was hoping for. Also have no clue as to how this dish is even considered French.</div><div><br /></div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP9jE6s9XQXTQqGPyR11xBe5EZ0JeL7P7YH0DqTr3TZ9J-xlA5QHruyMpSKQjlrGjmEaA_lhgqlA_1aSPhqOqowqaq4CwLkjA0AdTOnDpWAzR_4Mw_EfEDjg3-NNFCHnyrEmJIRBzkws4/s400/IMG_7026.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5673865252372468066" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 349px; " /><div><br /></div><div>Overall I absolutely loved the tartare. The oysters were good but to me it was pretty pricey and the entree tasted mediocre but definitely not worth the price. I guess food wise it was good but this place is definitely for those who want to splurge. OMG un-freakin-believable!!!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">We were starving as usual so Sand recommended we go try out <a href="http://www.sunsetgrill.ca/">Sunset Grill</a>. He's been there a few times and he loves the omelette there so of course we had to order that.</div><div><a name='more'></a><br /></div><div>Here was the meat lovers omelette with peameal style bacon, ham, bacon and cheddar served with a side of home fries. First off, that was not a side of home fries. It was a meal on its own. I didn't care for the home fries too much. I still like the ones I had at <a href="http://eatherenext.blogspot.com/2011/09/insomnia-tweetup.html">Insomnia</a>. Maybe cause there the ketchup is already mixed into the fries also I like my home fries to have a bit of crunch to it. The omelette was humongous. It was oozing with cheese and definitely meaty. You can see the chunks of bacon and ham. Believe me the omelette was enormous and looks much more bigger in person. The picture here just doesn't do it any justice. It was scrumptious considering the fact I'm not much of an omelette fan but the amount of meat in this baby might just convert me after all.</div><div><br /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 349px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0zGBM0DBCr9hvpKtZTxkv6iQC1TmjW92OcxN5xNZuYoPICSLp2IR_AphG1GigCvOd8QgJASJjMlIxR8qKYMY3P3ywl9B0tvg36OZPgcsjugYTI_mG2yAv4VgLVyLV2ZNvRU3cVoJyJCY/s400/IMG_6851.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659045699708176466" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 333px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRMY_JpFyTOKwz34mc1Ll-A3XilxXdRI6ylMFs3-KegCA_G0b3rbK28pTk49CwkNQOMyQPxPNLkMHRZ0BVAj_R_Oc_xFB6ypNIxSNtfBfKgxQrujJaIRs8BAceQJ0hsJcQ0SbvIITl5tc/s400/IMG_6850.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659045688224799042" /><div><br /></div><div>The other dish we ordered was the the French connection with 3 eggs, peameal bacon, home fries and french toast. </div><div><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 349px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYpF81Mdyl0Gd06q3Gcgy5u88IVkLj8EgH_XrFh11tD3_oKeGC8WI35z30r3qDdgZW7sliBFWg6aGBfuiGvbBc4sYj-UcFgZjHJiaSygW0IunWbrKcXDTiYJOh28dWDjE4fB4l3vCRzHo/s400/IMG_6860.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659045684870547794" /><div><br /></div><div>Peameal bacon. Not so good but not so bad either.</div><div><br /></div><div>This time I returned for brunch and OMG what an <b>EPIC FAIL</b>!!!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>Thank god Bonnie was there first. If it wasn't for her we wouldn't have gotten a table. But when I arrived I noticed a lot of empty tables. WTH!!! Why the holdup then? Guess they are the type of resto where they make people wait just so that it appears to be busy. Already I wasn't too pleased.</div><div><br /></div><div>I had my eye on the macadamia banana pancakes but was told that they didn't have any bananas so any dishes with the fruit would not be available. Once again not thrilled here. This is the 2nd time that I came and couldn't get the dish I wanted due to lack of ingredients.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>WARNING: The pictures may appear mouthwatering but believe me did not taste as great as it looked.</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>We were waiting for quite some time for our meal so our waitress gave us complimentary muffins on the house. That made me feel a bit happier since I was starving.</div><div><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 349px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE0j3yMy8dmmbLZAj1-grRyZJaBq0MfK3KX51wz0_nHKs9OwGnf6o-PqEEOySZb8ookIlciHsrEq7GtMLG6K3VKOFmjiKgJXGDnlr3nbaykQsoNNsLfLERh5zAJA8lypJc4i0LOYBqIkc/s400/IMG_6598.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653538971667664562" /><div><a name='more'></a><br /></div><div>Here were blueberry buttermilk pancakes with whipped cream and maple syrup. I had a bite of Susan's benni. The corn bread was extremely dry where I had to drink water to swallow it down. Think everyone found their eggs overcooked.</div><div><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 349px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqSlABv9z1boxcGwHdtGxm-2rwGFQipM61fq9JLscBL8F7rbMJfxrH7fEPtkBl5sNGhSicB-TkWYWF_sSV8ggrlJQp6gi9-_o-N0X3ED7IaAwon4u7Em6ouMNrJQNC9m6Wi5xbzJ-hO9A/s400/IMG_6601.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653537476264058834" /><div><br /></div><div>However, Susan's egg was beyond overcooked. Mmmmm. My very <a href="http://eatherenext.blogspot.com/2011/02/ruelo-patisserie.html">first trip</a> was for the macarons. Every trip so far has been a great experience. This time I returned for their afternoon tea. </div><div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">The afternoon tea is available everyday from 12pm - 6pm. No reservations required. However, it is a tiny space so I would recommend calling ahead to see if there is any seating available. Think there are around 6 tables plus seating by the counter.</div><div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Me and Sue dropped by on a Saturday afternoon round 3pm or so. The place was empty when we arrived however, after we were seated then people started bustling in. Thank god we came earlier otherwise we wouldn't have had a table.</div><div><a name='more'></a>
<br /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 349px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJcw0qzAKrrQaT0AHVBzyjZXw7QIXAM0URcgv2pKkYkLodRCOwvvw9jzyOUPrRoS-LwrOgReXh0TO8a-4aZGzJU7EaLKaxmFbRPABuBTeU6ERnHrfFHo-YeHdZrJ0K3GSoYFsPGuOZMk4/s400/IMG_6274.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5648398251383864082" /><div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">First off, we were asked to select a tea. With so many options available, I decided to let Sue choose since she loves drinking tea. After a lot of sniffing, she finally settled on sweet love and spicy chocolate.</div><div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLxrwtHLl4ZqMZqPTKG8Fio0OGDarBqcXXhmZIRIJcUm8JNNCzVvaL8pULiEp4gw_41EU_ZR1pyB4SVJgZkTnlqJBcdrlMgLsECIsCPtzqSX8X_sC9ne2x0bP1wy9WsCJEil_CZgjJ6k0/s320/IMG_6266.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5648397782412078754" /><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5_hiNw9XCI1PCsBmpgFLHIogVhPOt8KXLfsI-Jkl4lRVTSfz4stBIjj23BUIaHzswqsGeqkkahyqGSwQsjJfAHoe1XKyYlnyDmen4qoNocZe2ikUEQOjme_YRIhdqX-hLb-BqTB8d95s/s320/IMG_6269.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5648397780842497442" /><div>

<br /></div><div>
<br /></div><div>I hardly drink tea so I had no clue what to do with this. I just assumed you just let it drip one drop at a time. Even Sue never saw this contraption before. Our server must have realized we didn't know what we were doing since she came over and told us "You know you just press the button to release the tea." We were so embarrassed lol. Man it was hilarious and I was thirsty too. Do you see where the button is located? </div><div>
<br /></div><div>Between the two flavors we both preferred the sweet love over the chocolate. It was much more sweeter and taste wise was better. I can't describe the flavor profile for sweet love but it was sweet:)</div><div>

<br /></div><div>Since there was only ONE strawberry yuzu left I had to order it. I mean Sue never tried it so I wanted to make sure she didn't leave without at least trying a bite of it. <br />I am soooo behind on my blogging so will try to remember as much as I can about my experience here.<div>
<br /></div><div>I went to Ding Tai Fong sometime in mid August. Sand recommended the place to me so we decided to go there on a Saturday morning.</div><div>
<br /></div><div>Dang the place was packed when we arrived. Then again all dim sum places are always packed on a Saturday morning. This was no regular Chinese dim sum place. It was a Shanghai dim sum restaurant.
<br /><div><a name='more'></a>
<br /></div><div><div>Ding Tai is most popular for its xiao long bao which is steamed soup dumplings with pork filling. This was deeeelicious. But you have to eat this with finesse and care. The soup inside the dumpling is boiling hot so do not put the whole thing in your mouth or you will get burned. Don't know how Sue's dumpling here got torn like that so felt like taking a pix of it hehe. Shows you gotta be gentle when picking up one of these babies.</div><div>

<br /></div><div>I already knew what I wanted so I began ordering the moment I was seated. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>Here were the blueberry buttermilk pancakes with lemon and syrup. It was really good. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Normally I am not a big fan of lemon flavor but here it was very subtle so it didn't bother me at all.</div><div>

<br /></div><div>Here was the french toast served with a side of Caesar salad. My cousin enjoyed the salad. As for the french toast, the first few bites were yummy but then after a while I kinda got bored of it. It was just too heavy and very filling.</div><div>
