Louis XIV

Sweet sweet Louis.

After eating at Ruelo, we walked around Time Square and stumbled upon a lil cake shop called Louis XIV. With the cake display still embedded in my head, I finally returned and bought a couple of desserts to try out.

$15.99 for Afternoon Tea...Awesome^_^

Last time I came to Ruelo was for desserts and that's when I discovered the strawberry yuzu. Mmmmm. My very first trip was for the macarons. Every trip so far has been a great experience. This time I returned for their afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea is available everyday from 12pm - 6pm. No reservations required. However, it is a tiny space so I would recommend calling ahead to see if there is any seating available. Think there are around 6 tables plus seating by the counter.

Me and Sue dropped by on a Saturday afternoon round 3pm or so. The place was empty when we arrived however, after we were seated then people started bustling in. Thank god we came earlier otherwise we wouldn't have had a table.

Rooftop Patio @ Joey Don Mills

My last trip to Joey Don Mills was for lunch. I fell in love with their molten lava chocolate souffle. Just the thought of it now is making me drool. This time around I found another new love.

My colleagues wanted to go out for lunch so I suggested Joey. Since it was such a gorgeous day we opted for the rooftop patio.

I got the ahi tuna club with grilled rare tuna loin with smoked bacon, red pepper relish, arugula and panko onion rings with a side of sweet potato fries. It was absolutely de-li-cious.

Uptown All Day Dim Sum

Me and my cousin were craving for some dim sum. Problem was that it was after 3pm. Most dim sum places end their dim sum around that time. I didn't know of any all day dim sum places uptown so I asked a friend who lived in the area if he could recommend any restaurants. He suggested Richmond Court at Times Square so off we went.

Dlish Cupcakes

Last time I went to Dlish, there was only ONE cupcake left.

I still remember it clearly as if it just happened yesterday. Yes I'm pretty serious when it comes to my cupcakes, it's serious stuff (j/k or am I?).

It was 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, an hour before they closed, luckily me and my friend stepped in a few seconds earlier before the next people because there was only one cupcake left on the shelf. We bought it and sat by the window to eat. It was kinda mean watching people walk in only to be disappointed yet seeing us eat our cupcake hehe.

Ice 'n Cake

After filling our bellys with some delicious Thai food from Linda, we stopped by this new dessert place called Ice 'n Cake.

It was bustling with people when we arrived so we waited for it to die down before heading to the counter.

I love the fun colorful interior. Makes it appear playful and inviting.

Since we were kinda full I decided to pass on the cake and grab the gelato instead.

I got passion fruit and mango gelato. It was yummy.

It was a great way to end our day with 2 scoops of refreshing fruit flavored gelato. Hopefully next time I can try the cakes or maybe the crepe or even waffle... guess we will see;)

Rahier

More desserts.

After finishing our snack at Patisserie La Cigogne, just a few stores down was Rahier. I couldn't help myself I had to stop in. I mean I am rarely in this area so I had to give it a try.

I got the apple streudel with some sort of vanilla cream filling. It was delish.

This time I was able to snag myself a macaron without having to buy a package unlike Cigogne. I got the pistachio macaron and an almond cookie with pistachio cream. Both were a delight.

I would definitely return again. I have to try out one of their cakes. Heard so much good reviews I'm kinda sad that I wasn't even able to buy one single piece. Oh well, maybe on my next trip I can eat more than one cake hehe;)

Patisserie La Cigogne

Here's a quick post.

After some serious shoe shopping, I decided to take my friend to Patisserie La Cigogne.

This is the first thing you see when you enter, a whole array of pretty lil cakes. I was drooling at the display. My friend tells me we have to eat real food first before buying cake. Fiiiine I say.

Mad Italian

Gelato. Don't think I've ever really had bad gelato so not much to say except perfect on a hot humid day.

I got a small scoop of watermelon and blue angel gelato from Mad Italian located in Little Italy. The angel tasted like cotton candy. It was delish and the watermelon was bursting with melon flavor.

Warning: This location does NOT have air conditioner so do not go if it's a hot humid day. I learned it the hard way:(

Toronto's First Food Truck Eats...Finally!!!

After watching The Amazing Food Truck Race and Eat St., I have been wondering as to why Toronto didn't have any gourmet food trucks or at least other than the ones you see downtown in front of City Hall.

On July 2, 2011, Toronto finally was on the food truck scene thanks to Suresh Doss aka @spotlightcity who organized the event, Food Truck Eats. (#foodtruckeats)

The event was held at the Distillery District. I got there with a few other tweeps at around 11:30 or so thanks to @deguzzi's pimpin ride. It really beats riding the bus on such a hot sunny day. The event was from 11-3. I couldn't believe how insane it was. It was jam packed with people.

Monsieur Felix & Mr. Norton

Chewy and gooey.

That is how you would describe the cookies from Monsieur Felix & Mr. Norton.

Their cookies are baked fresh everyday and there are no preservatives or trans fats. There are 14 cookie flavors available from caramelt to the classic milk chocolate chunk or another old time favorite, the macadamia and white chocolate chunk.

I couldn't resist so I bought one of each flavor plus a few extra cookies.

Capriccio Cafe

I want dessert and I got me some desserts:)

I was craving for some sort of cake so decided to try out Capriccio Cafe. I've only been here once and all I grabbed was a bag of caramel popcorn. I know what was I thinking when there was a whole array of decadent cakes and other goodies on display. Well what can I say I eat whatever I feel for at that moment. Not that the caramel popcorn was really special or anything. I just walked in and saw popcorn so decided I want to eat that instead. Yea I'm weird like that.

Any hoot. Capriccio is a really cute space. When you walk in you can see the variety of sweet confections available. Once you pick out your delight there's a seating area which looks like a lil girls tea party room with white chairs and tables and some splashes of color here and there of merchandise.

I spotted this cup on my way out think I might return and buy it. It's so cute.

My Baked Goods from La Boheme

I had a tweetup at Jedd's but we were suppose to bring baked goodies. Since I don't bake I decided to grab some treats from La Boheme.

Jedd's Frozen Custard

I love custard but frozen custard I never tried before.

I was excited that I finally made the trip to Jedd's Frozen Custard.

The owner was extremely friendly and very informative. He told us what made his custard different from regular ice cream. I don't quite remember what he said since all I could think was "Gimme some custard!" I was hungry. (Then again nothing new there). He let me sample all the flavors. The regular flavors were vanilla and chocolate. As for the flavor of the day, it was banana. Funny thing was the owner hates bananas and he even told us why but regardless, I really liked the banana flavor so I ended up getting a small cup. The texture is much more smoother than regular ice cream. I'm really sorry though but I completely forgot to take pictures of my frozen custard:( I know I'm so terrible how could I possibly forget that.

The Bean Counter

After my snack at Buddha Dog, I strolled over next door to The Bean Counter for some gelato.

There were a lot of yummy flavors available.

I ended up grabbing the special of the day, the melon gelato. It was actually the owner's first time creating the flavor. She did a great job since it really did taste like melon and it was refreshing.

Perfect way to end the day. Also the fruity flavor was a great change from all the cheese I had at TGCCF.

finger food such a tease...I was still hungry:(

Afternoon tea.

When I hear those words I think of little old grannies sitting around wearing big hats sipping tea.

Well that wasn't the case here at the Library Bar.

I bought a voucher for afternoon tea at the Fairmont Royal York inside the Library Bar.

When I called to make reservations, the earliest seating available was one month later. Wonder if it was because of the deal or was it really that good? Well it wasn't that great to me.

Yogurt Bar @ Menchie's

Froyo?

When I first heard this I had no clue what it was. Froyo is basically frozen yogurt.

At Menchie's it's all about the froyo. Even Hollywood is crazy about the yogurt bar as well.

Omakase Box

I won! I won! I WON!!!

Not only is twitter great for meeting new people but also for winning great stuff.

I saw a tweet from @omakase_ninja about the Egg Hunt contest. All you had to do was tweet the number of eggs you saw.
