Rooftop Patio @ Joey Don Mills

My last trip to Joey Don Mills was for lunch. I fell in love with their molten lava chocolate souffle. Just the thought of it now is making me drool. This time around I found another new love.

My colleagues wanted to go out for lunch so I suggested Joey. Since it was such a gorgeous day we opted for the rooftop patio.

I got the ahi tuna club with grilled rare tuna loin with smoked bacon, red pepper relish, arugula and panko onion rings with a side of sweet potato fries. It was absolutely de-li-cious.

Look at the onion rings. It was crunchy with every bite. The tuna was grilled perfectly and the seasoning was spot on. At first I thought it was small surprisingly, it was quite filling.

For dessert me and a coworker decided to split the apple pie which came with a scoop of maple ice cream topped with brown sugared apples, toasted almonds all drizzled with caramel sauce. It was simply one of the best apple pies I have ever tasted. Normally when it comes to apple pies I love the ones at McDonalds but this I will choose over McDonalds any day. Question is now do I love the souffle more or the apple pie? Hmmmm I just can't choose.

Here is what my colleagues ordered. I didn't sample any so I can't comment on the food but they all seemed to enjoy it.

2 colleagues had the bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. If I hadn't devoured the Tower of Babel I probably would've ordered this. Just the thought of the burger still gives me the shivers.

Panang prawn curry bowl stir fried with vegetables in a red coconut curry cream with Thai basil and peanuts.

Rotisserie chicken with fries and dill coleslaw.

After our meal it sucked that we had to go back to work. Next time I go for the patio it's gonna be a day where I don't have to return to work.

So I'm guessing you'll go back to Popeye's before going back for another burger? ;)

I was afraid that the onion ring would be greasy and ruin the sandwich. I'm definitely going to try that!

I stopped getting apple pies from McD when they started to back them instead of frying. It doesn't have that flaky texture. Egg tarts are like that now as well. I get the kind with the flaky shell instead of the thicker dense shells.
