Brunch @ School...EPIC FAIL!!!

My last trip at School was mediocre. Not so good but not so bad either.

This time I returned for brunch and OMG what an EPIC FAIL!!!

Thank god Bonnie was there first. If it wasn't for her we wouldn't have gotten a table. But when I arrived I noticed a lot of empty tables. WTH!!! Why the holdup then? Guess they are the type of resto where they make people wait just so that it appears to be busy. Already I wasn't too pleased.

I had my eye on the macadamia banana pancakes but was told that they didn't have any bananas so any dishes with the fruit would not be available. Once again not thrilled here. This is the 2nd time that I came and couldn't get the dish I wanted due to lack of ingredients.

WARNING: The pictures may appear mouthwatering but believe me did not taste as great as it looked.

We were waiting for quite some time for our meal so our waitress gave us complimentary muffins on the house. That made me feel a bit happier since I was starving.

Here were blueberry buttermilk pancakes with whipped cream and maple syrup. Honestly for $12 I don't think it was worth it. Take out the fruit and whipped cream, the pancakes were just mediocre.

Here are pix of everyone else's dishes.

Here was the spiced benni on cheddar chive biscuit with back bacon, chipotle Hollandaise and home fries.

Here was the cheesy french toast with double smoked bacon, maple syrup and greens. I had a bite of this and it was yummy. Think I enjoyed it because of the bacon.

Here was Amy's chorizo potato omelet with goat cheese, tortillas, salsa, crema and greens.

I think 3 people ordered this dish, the upstream benni served on corn bread with smoked salmon, spiced Hollandaise and greens. I had a bite of Susan's benni. The corn bread was extremely dry where I had to drink water to swallow it down. Think everyone found their eggs overcooked.

However, Susan's egg was beyond overcooked. Look at the egg. It was hard boiled rather than poached. There was no runny yolk at all. Luckily, we told our waitress who was more than happy to replace the dish.

Here is the 2nd dish Susan chose, the four cheese omelet souffle. There was suppose to be bacon as well but they forgot about it. We had to inform our waitress who then brought over the bacon a while later. This was pretty good. It was fluffy and definitely cheesy good.

Once again I was disappointed. I don't see why all the hype.

I did have a good time with my tweeps.

Big thanks to @thebonnielui for organizing and waiting in line:)

Also had a great time with @aarietta, @sandwongsta, @sujo27, @lu_amy7 and @dimplettez. Too bad the food wasn't so great. At least the company was good^_^

How can you not have bananas? I agree the pancakes was overpriced.

Aww, that's unfortunate your brunch experience wasn't so hot :( I've passed by it a few times and wanted to check it but didn't get around to it. What a bummer.

Oh, and as for the bananas, my hunch is that the timing of their supply order (or possibly lack thereof) didn't coincide with the ripening of the bananas. One of the ladies I buy baked goods from at the farmers market was telling me this past week that her bananas were coming in the colour of grass green o_O Hence why she was so sad she couldn't bake banana bread.

Obviously, this doesn't excuse School from not having bananas, but it might be the reason why :)

I like that warning like what you see in the side view mirrors. Maybe that is what they should put in front of a store instead of the health inspection sign! lol

One would think that they would learn the first time they ran out to not have it happen again.

I always avoid getting same dish someone else is getting. My imagination always think that they will take shortcuts in making both portions together and getting less portions and less effort in putting together a good dish.

I'm just glad I got my meal for free after all the mixups :) I definitely had better brunch experiences tho and would rather try a new place rather than going back here.
