At the corner of Yonge and Drewry lies a little restaurant where you can go in anytime for either breakfast, a burger or even souvlaki whatever you feel for all around the clock.

Reggie's Old Fashioned Sandwiches

After dinner at Brassaii, I was still hungry so I walked down the street to Reggie's to grab a couple of sandwiches for takeout.

The menu is not your regular Subway or Quizno menu. No sireee. It's way better and sounds much more exciting.

After a few minutes of contemplation I chose the Philly cheese steak and the duck confit and brie sandwich. Yes I said DUCK CONFIT.

Here was the philly cheese steak with peppers, onions, garlic, sirloin and mozzarella. I grabbed this for my boyfriend unfortunately, I didn't get to try it since I went to walk my dogs and when I returned he had already inhaled the whole sandwich. Not one crumb was left. Guess it was that good.

Here was the duck confit and brie sandwich with sweet cherry tomato and julienne apple. This was delicious. Brie and duck is a great combination. The bread however was a bit too hard for me. I would have preferred one that didn't rip my gums.

They are opened till 5am which is perfect for club hoppers and other late nite diners. Too bad this sandwich shop isn't close to me otherwise I would add this along with the Owl to my list of places for midnight snacks.

Mars Diner

Yesterday I went to go watch the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Either I'm a real chicken or I just haven't watched any movie for a while but for a kids movie I found some parts to be scary especially the part where Dumbledore's ghost comes zooming out of nowhere. I almost jumped out of my seat.

After the movie I was hungry since I haven't ate anything yet all morning so me and my cousin searched for a place to grab a bite.

We were at the theatre at Yonge and Eglinton so luckily there were numerous options to choose from. I saw a sign that said all day breakfast so we decided to head to Mars Diner.

It was a cozy little diner. It looked like it was from the late 50s with its red colored seating and metal counters. All that was missing were waitresses on rollerblades dressed in those poofy poodle dresses. I would love to wear one of those poodle skirts for fun.

I was craving for breakfast so I decided to order the egg benedict with a side of sweet potato fries and a side of griddle cake. At first I didn't know what a griddle cake was but when I asked it apparently was another term for pancake. My sweet potato fries were crispy just the way I liked it and I didn't even had to tell them to make it that way. My benedict was delicious especially the peameal bacon. Mmmmmm bacon. However, as for my griddle cake I cannot say the same. It was dry. I only took one bite and just left it. I didn't even bother to complain since I was already stuffed from the benny so didn't want to get another order of pancake.

My cousin ordered the Mars chicken wrap. I tried a piece of her chicken since the waiter had kept emphasizing that almost everything on the menu was homemade. It was scrumptious. I definitely would order that on my next trip.

On a side note, the diner is open for 24 hours on weekends. Wished there were more places like that close to my area. The only ones I can think of are Asian places which I don't mind but would prefer a variety of choices of cuisine instead of just one.

Owl of Minerva

Ok reading the name it just doesn't sound like a restaurant. More like a bird shop of some sort.

This Korean restaurant is by far the best place to head to for gamjatang, aka pork bone soup. It is a spicy soup made with pork spine, vegetables, green onions, hot peppers and ground wild sesame seeds. I love eating this in the winter time. For some reason I find this soothing and comforting. Just like how others feel when they are eating a bowl of chicken noodle soup. But for me I prefer the pork bone soup.

At the Owl, there are only 8-10 items on the menu but their main specialty is the pork bone soup. They don't even need to serve other items because it really is that good. Also the spot I go to, located close to Yonge and Finch, it's opened 24 hours a day. I went once on a weeknight at two in the morning because I was craving for it and I was astonished to see that the place was still bustling with people at that time of night. Thought I was the only crazy person that would be there at two in the morning.

Another added bonus is this bowl of yummy soup cost only $6. It's so filling and delicious you just can't go wrong. Unlike a happy meal at MacDonalds, it is more expensive and an hour later you will be hungry again.

If you never tried gamjatang before then head to the Owl of Minerva. I got my cousin to try it and she loves it. It's funny when I first told her to try it she asked me if it tasted like pho lol. Well she definitely does not think that now hehe.

Holy Veal

I did a little shopping at Sherway Gardens a few weeks ago. After the mall was closed I was famished so decided to eat somewhere close by.

We ended up going to The Grille which was located along the Queensway.

We ordered the chicken quesadilla as a starter and I ordered the veal sandwich with poutine as my entree and my boyfriend had the special which was a full rack of ribs along with coleslaw and rice.

This is how my entree looked. OMG!!! It was humongous. Wished I didn't order the appetizer had I known the portions were this big. Then again the appetizer was pretty big should have seen it coming but I was too hungry to care. I always order with my eyes rather than my stomach. My philosophy is it's always better to leave with a full stomach rather than a half full stomach otherwise will have the munchies later. But then it explains why I just can't seem to shed these extra pounds. Needless to say I was no longer starving. I had to pack the leftovers in a brown bag which sadly was pretty much the whole sandwich but at least I finished the poutine. It sure was yummy.

My boyfriend inhaled his full rack of ribs. He didn't get as full as quickly as I did so he didn't have any doggie bag.

The food here was good and they definitely are very generous with their portions so I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who has a big appetite and want more bang for their buck.
